Firmware page - updated

The firmware links in one page is not so useful with so many links for so many different devices in one place. It takes more time to load and more time to scroll in order to find what you need. This is why i separated firmware links by device type: iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad. Added latest firmwares which were missing and added iPod Touch 5G, iPhone 5, iPad 4 and iPad Mini firmwares. If you have any suggestions please comment below.

How to add Facebook Integration and Share Widget in iOS5.1.1

Most of you are familiar that iOS 5.1.1 already have Twitter integration built in. With the Cydia Tweak iOS 6 Twitter Widget for iOS 5
you can add next best thing to share widget in iOS 6 in notification center. Since iOS 5 does not offer Facebook integration we can add it with not so popular tweak called Fusion.
It is paid tweak and it cost 2$.

Here are some brief setup instructions in order to make it work as best as possible like the share widget in iOS6.

1. After installing Fusion, open Settings>Fusion> Quick Compose and press Install Activator. Cydia will open and you have to install Activator. (Do that only if you don't have activator installed)

2. Open Settings>Fusion> Quick Compose setup activation shortcut (i choose double tap on status bar)
3. Open Quick Compose and press Add location in the bottom left of compose box. It will ask for access to your location. Allow it if you want to add location to your Facebook posts.
4. Allow Fusion to post on your Facebook wall. In order to do it you have to open Settings>Fusion>Plugins>Facebook>Activation and fill in your facebook e-mail and password and allow Fusion the access.
5. Install iOS 6 Twitter Widget for iOS 5.
6. Uninstall Activator (if you no longer need it for other applications)

How it works:
Now when you press Tap to Tweet (in the notification Center) the Compose window will pop up.

When you type your message and press send icons with supported social networks will show you have to tap one or both icons in order to post on one or both social networks. If you press add location after selecting Twitter or Facebook it will list nearby locations to select from. If you press photo icon it will ask you to take photo or choose from library. If you press Notes icon now playing will be added to your post.

How to Enable FeceTime Over 3G in iPhone 4 iOS5.1.1-iOS6.0.1

Some of you who follow the jailbreak and tweak news already know about this tweak. The new here is that it works in iOS6 (and 6.0.1) as well. So here's the guide:

How to Enable Native FaceTime Over 3G Feature in iOS5-iOS6
But you will, however, still need to be jailbroken, as you will be editing a .plist file inside your device.

Step 1. Using iFile or any other file browser, navigate to /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/
Step 2. Locate the N90AP.plist and open it.
Step 3. Below the <dict> line, under <key>capabilities</key>, add in <key>3Gvenice</key><true/>

Step 4. Make sure to save your changes, and then exit the file browser.

That’s all there is to it. Remember to watch your usage if you aren’t on an unlimited data plan. Video calls can really rack up the MBs.

How to block OTA updates in any iOS device since iOS5.0

I have been absent these days because I had no time to post new interesting things. I will start with OTA updates. OTA Updates are annoying for jailbreakers who decided to stay on older iOS version than the current one. They always receive notifications for available update. But there is a way to block it totally. It is a new tweak in Cydia called:

Software Update Killer

It's made by Lunatik and is available in BigBoss repo. Whats it does is quickly described in the following screenshots:

It disables the badge on the Settings icon, the badge on the General section inside Settings and the badge on the Software update section inside General. Also it disables the button Download and Install inside Software Update section.

iPad 3 with 3 different jailbreaks

So far I have info that 3 different jailbreaks exist for iPad 3.

First was MuscleNerd with the root access:
and Cydia installed

Then i0n1c showed video of untethered iPad 3

Shortly after chpwn and phoenixdev showed pictures of a third iPad 3 WIFI jailbreak

So these days are busy days for jailbreakers. iPad 3 was not a big challenge for the jailbreakers which exploited it so fast.

Advice: If you are an iPad 3 owner do not upgrade your firmware in near future, a jailbreak is coming for you!

WARNING - iOS autodownloads the 5.1 update

Today I received many calls from friends relatives and clients that the iOS 5.1 update started downloading without their interaction. I experienced this myself on my iPad 2 and my iPhone 4, also seen it happen on a friends iPhone 4S.

If your device is jailbroken the update will most likely fail, but the problem is that it takes huge amount of space. There is a solution about it:

Open in text editor of iFile
/System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist

and change the ProductBuildVersion to 9B176 (9B179 for iPhone 4S) and ProductVersion to 5.1 .

Respring and the space should have been freed (around 800 MB for iPhone 4S and iPads and around 600 MB for iPhone 4 and 3GS)

Side Note:

If you do not close iFile before the respring you risk to damage your SystemVersion.plist - it is not so massive fail but in settings it will show N/A for software version and activator will protest about the version is too old. So it is wise to make a backup copy of that file just in case.

Why is this happen? Well I do not know for sure, but I guess that Apple can forcibly push updates to all iOS 5.x devices.

New Design

I changed a little the design of the blog with a nice semitransparent theme with a smooth wooden background. Since the technology is getting ahead i expanded horizontal resolution of the posts a little so now a minimum requirement for viewing the blog is 1024x768 resolution (it was 800x600) in desktop mode. Mobile version resolution requirements are not changed and will display well on all mobile devices.

I hope you like it.

    Facts about technology news

If you follow my blog you will see that my descryption of iPad 2 and iPhone 4S is very accurate (hardware wise). Also I have informed you that iOS 4.3 will be out in the middle of march. Well i am off by 4 days. Other bloggers and news sites said many dates in february which were wrong. Probably it is because everyone copy news from everyone, and noone reserach and check with sources what they write anymore. And what are the consequances from this? The readers read certain untrue news from an "trustworthy" blog/site and they believe it. The so called trustworthy sites publish untrue news which for me means only one thing that they lie to people about these things. They are just partly guilty about this because they copy the false news from another sites and blogs and social networks and just rewrite the BS they post. This is not journalism it is gossip dependent publishing. I want to move your view to a recent news articles which flood news sites, the news which state Foxconn worker speed details about the new iPhone - every time when worker spreads the news about any apple related hardware it is a false info. We have seen very similar false informations about iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, and now they start for iPhone 5. Next thing will be cases produced by chinese companies ... and so on, and so on. Same thing happens every time, and lame journalists copy the false info all over internet.

How to jailbreak iPhone 4s or iPad 2 with Absinthe

Connect your iDevice (iPhone 4s or iPad 2) to your computer and backup all data.
This is essential when you upgrade your iPad 2 from iOS 4.X version to iOS 5. If you perform Upgrade and not restore on the iPad from 4.X version the jailbreak will not work. You need to perform Restore then do the jailbreak and after that to restore from backup.

    Close iTunes and start Absinthe.

Press jailbreak button and wait until instructions tell you to open jailbreak app on your springboard.

Normally this app will jailbreak your iDevice, but for now Chronic-dev servers are overloaded so there is a trick to continiue and finish the jailbreak process.

Without doing anything else aside, open settings and set VPN to ON, error will pop up, wait a little more without touching anything else, the iDevice will reboot and after the reboot it will be jailbroken :)

A5 Devices (iPhone 4s and iPad 2) Jailbreak Has Been Released! - Absinthe

The 'Dream Team' of hackers have just released their untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 4S and the iPad 2.

P0sixninja details some of the background in a post on the Greenpoison blog:

The ridiculously complex combination of exploits-within-exploits that make this iOS jailbreak possible have consumed thousands of hours of brain-power & effort from a legion of world-renowned hackers, several of whom have been working diligently on this project since the dual-core A5 processor was unveiled by Apple last March. Ten months ago, I myself was live tweeting from a tediously long line at the nearest Apple retail store, where I anxiously waited to become one of the world's first owners (& hackers) of the newly-released iPad 2.

Despite new tools to help with finding exploits they realized a team effort was necessary.

We finally admitted that the escalated obstacles presented by Apple's new A5 processor would not likely be overcome by one individual or team – but all together, we should be more than able to conquer any challenges encountered. As such, a diverse group of iOS hackers all decided to set aside our personal goals & egos, relax our die-hard team loyalties, and pool our respective skill-sets, talents & exploits to form an iOS Super-Hacking "Dream Team."

The initial release is currently for Mac OS X only but Windows is coming soon! You can download it here or here
